Frostbite 2018 was aSuper Smash Bros. for Wii Usupermajor held in Dearborn,Michigan. It took place on February 9th-11th, 2018. On February 8th, 2018, the tournament organizers revealed that the tournament would be sponsored byNintendo of America.^[1]

This tournament sparked controversy onreddit and social media regardingBayonetta and her perceived status as anoverpowered character, due to the high number of players using her throughout the bracket, while three of the Top 8 players primarily used Bayonetta on that period of the bracket. A topic of debate sparked on whether or not the character should be banned completely from tournament play, citing significantly decreased viewership throughout Top 8 compared to previous major tournaments, as well as unfavorable reactions from the crowd and commentators on stream.^[2][3]
