Shuton (しゅーとん) is a Smasher from Fukuoka,Kyūshū who is currently residing in Tokyo,Kantō, who is known for his success inSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.
He made his competitive debut inSmash 4 as anOlimar player. He dominated Kyūshū's competitive scene, winning nearly every Kyūshū event he attended which earned him the nickname "King of Kyūshū". He broke out onto the Japanese scene after placing 2nd atUmebura 22 and gradually became one of Japan's best players. He made his first international appearanceFrostbite 2017 where he placed 5th, and since then has placed highly at many American events, most notably placing 3rd at2GGC: West Side Saga andSmash Sounds, becoming the only solo-Olimar player with multiple top 8 major performances. As such, he is widely considered the greatestSmash 4 Olimar player of all time and was ranked 23rd on thePGR 100 as the ranking's only solo-Olimar player.
InUltimate, he was initially a solo-Olimar player, and alongsideDabuz andMyran spearheaded Olimar's large playerbase in the early metagame. He especially became the only Olimar player to win a major, which includes winningUmebura SP, the firstUltimate major, and2GG: Prime Saga, Shuton's first international major victory. Even after Olimar's nerfs in3.1.0, he remained successful with Olimar and notably wonEVO Japan 2020, Japan's largest event in the early metagame. He eventually picked upPyra andMythra as a co-main in the post-pandemic metagame and piloted the characters to great success, including winning several other majors such asSeibugeki 18. With all these achievements and his many major victories throughoutUltimate's lifespan, he is considered one of the greatestUltimate players of all time as well as the greatestUltimate Olimar player and one of the greatest Pyra and Mythra players.
