komorikiri (古森霧,old forest fog) is a JapaneseSmash 4Cloud main with aSonic secondary from Wakayama, Japan, considered one of the best players from Japan. He is considered to be one of the best Sonic players in the world along withKEN as well as one of the best Cloud players in the world along withMkLeo andTweek. He is also proficient with a variety of other characters, includingMarth,Corrin,Roy,Bayonetta, andMii Brawler. komorikiri is currently ranked 19th on theJAPAN Smash 4 Power Rankings and 12th on thePanda Global Rankings 100. He was also formerly ranked 1st on theSoCal Smash 4 Power Rankings (in the 0th position).

komorikiri is also considered to be one of the bestdoubles players in the world and usually teams with MkLeo (winningSuper Smash Con 2017,2GGC: SCR Saga,Shine 2017, andGameTyrant Expo 2017) orRanai (winningGENESIS 3 andUmebura S.A.T.).

On November 15th, 2016, komorikiri was signed on2GGaming.

Due to his pursuit of education, komorikiri parted ways with 2GGaming on November 2nd, 2018,[1] and has largely stayed in Japan forUltimate. Despite this, he still frequently entersSumabato, initially withWolf and currently withSora, and continues to have a deep pocket of characters. komorikiri is currently ranked 41st on theExperimental Smash Player Rankings and has wins overKome,Shirayuki,ZAKI,kept, andRon.

Tournament history[edit]

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U[edit]

Consistency in Japan[edit]

komorikiri is notable for always placing within top 8 at Japanese tournaments while using Sonic, seemingly always running into (and losing to) Ranai whenever they both enter the same tournament. He is partially responsible for Ranai's fame after being double eliminated atKSB 2015. komorikiri would eventually form a static team with Ranai, using Sonic-Villager. He would eventually put his name on the board placing 2nd duringUmebura F.A.T., where he was notably undefeated. He took games off ofEarth,Ally,9B,Kirihara, andChoco before finally being double eliminated by Nairo.

Cloud's Advent[edit]

komorikiri quickly picked up Cloud after he was released and made his international debut at Genesis 3, winning doubles with Ranai, with Cloud-Villager, notably coming on top of a 2v1 against Nairo and ZeRo. He received 17th, losing to Mr.R and Marss. He then received a ranking of 11th on the first version of Panda Global rankings, as a reward for his placings at Genesis 3 and Umebura FAT. Back in Japan, although he now won more tournaments, his placings became more volatile. komorikiri would then be sponsored briefly by Naifu (a crowdfund hosted by Nairo) to enterEVO 2016, unfortunately receiving 17th losing to Dabuz and ZeRo.

Proving Potential[edit]

komorikiri wonSumabato for THE BIG HOUSE over Taiheita, Shuton and Choco, winning a trip to The Big House 6. AtUmebura S.A.T., he lost to Mr R and was upset by Shuton, finishing uncharacteristically at 13th along with fellow smashers Ranai and Abadango. He would then be flown out along with Abadango to2GGT: Abadango Saga where he won doubles with ZeRo and took 5th, defeating Ally. komorikiri then took 3rd atThe Big House 6, defeating previous demons such as Mr R and Nairo, utilising both Sonic and Cloud. Shortly after announcing a 1-year break from school, he was picked up by2GGaming and continues to place consistently both overseas and at home.

Trivia[edit]

  • In addition of being one of the bestSmash 4 players, komorikiri is a top player inPokkén Tournament, notably placing 13th out of 1,180 entrants atEVO 2016.
  • komorikiri picked up Bayonetta after she was released, won a tournament with her and was considered the best Bayonetta for a month or so until he decided to drop her.
  • He is partially responsible for Sumabato'sSmash 4 ruleset regarding Miis, having laid terror to the bracket with fully unlocked Mii Brawler. Sumabato prior authorized full changes of Miis B-moves, but players are now able to change only one B-move out of the four, the rest being sticked to the attack 1. This rule disappeared inUltimate.
  • komorikiri is known for having a huge passion for theFire Emblem franchise. His in-game tag is often "Fjorm", from the gameFire Emblem Heroes. He also likes to pull out pocketFire Emblem characters in tournament, such as Marth, Corrin, Roy and Lucina. He has even taken a set off ofCaptainZack with Roy, and had a last hit game 5 set versusLarry Lurr with Marth.
  • AtGENESIS 4, komorikiri is known for being the one to notice the launch ratio being set to 0.9 in his set versus Captain Zack. This incident became a notorious meme on Twitch livestreams whenever someone survives at extremely high percents.
  • When he isn't attending tournaments, komorikiri can be found playing friendlies on Ranai's stream or practicing doubles with Misaka.
