Junebug is a smasher from Centreville,Virginia, who has competed in severalSmash titles.
He is best known for his performances inProject M, where he playedDiddy Kong and had aGanondorf secondary. He is considered one of the bestProject M players of all time, and was generally considered to be the definitive best throughout 2015 for his dominant and consistent record. He went on a hiatus from the game afterOlympus, and has made infrequent appearances since.
Junebug is also known for his performances inSuper Smash Bros. Melee. Initially playingSheik and defeating players such asZain atThe Big House 7 andColbol atRoyal Flush, he later shifted his focus towardsMelee's mid-tiers to collect information and clips for his YouTube videos. He became especially known for hisDonkey Kong, whom he began playing in 2023. He not only established himself as the best Donkey Kong player in the world, defeating players such asMagi andGinger atThe Big House 11, but also became the leader of the "Donkey Kong" renaissance, with his success, alongside an upswing of results from other Donkey Kong players, spurring discussion on Donkey Kong's true potential. His ranking of 45th on theSSBMRank Summer 2023 marked the first time a Donkey Kong player was ranked in the top 50 in a modernMelee global ranking, while his ranking of 19th on theSSBMRank 2024 marks by far the highest placement for a Donkey Kong player on a global ranking. As such, Junebug is widely regarded as the greatest Donkey Kong player of all time inMelee.
Junebug was aLucario player in bothSuper Smash Bros. Brawl andSuper Smash Bros. 4; in the former, he was once considered the best Lucario player beforeTrela's rise, notably having wins overMew2King andDEHF.
In addition to competitive play, Junebug is also notably proficient at analyzing the metagame and its competitive mentality; having succeeded in multiple Smash games for over a decade, he has a unique perspective when it comes to Smash and competition. He has coachedMelee championZain to massive success.
