Jakal, sometimes stylized asJaKaL, is a Smasher fromNew Jersey. He began competing inSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, where he was aSonic player. He was considered one of the best Sonic players in the Tristate area, with many strong performances at large Tristate regionals. However, he did not receive national attention until his breakout performance atShine 2018, where he placed 5th after defeatingMkLeo,Mr. E, andVoiD. In addition to this performance, he also notably defeatedANTi atPort Priority 3. With these performances, he was ranked 90th on theOrionRank 2018.
Jakal eventually switched to playingWolf inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, where he established himself among the best Wolf players in the United States in the early metagame, thanks to several strong major performances in the second half of the year. However, he became better known for his performances in the post-pandemic metagame, placing top 8 at multiple major and supermajor events throughout the metagame. He is best known for his performance atCrown the Third, where he defeated MkLeo,Sparg0, andOnin to place 2nd, becoming the highest-placing Wolf player at a supermajor in the post-pandemic metagame. Due to these results, Jakal is considered one of the two best Wolf players in North America during this time, alongsideOuch!?, as well as one of the best in the post-pandemic metagame overall.
On September 18th, 2019, Jakal was signed by IlluZion Gaming,[1] but left on February 17th, 2020.[2] In March 2025, YouTuberVarsVerum announced that he would be sponsoring four players to go toKagaribi 13, with Jakal being one of them.[3].
