HugS is asmasher from Pasadena,Southern California who is considered one of the greatestMeleeSamus players of all time. He has been active in theMelee scene since 2004, using a strong work ethic to make his way to the top. HugS takes the competitiveMelee scene very seriously, employing a smart style to surprise opponents. He is currently ranked 46th on the2019 MPGR and was formerly ranked 8th on theSoCal Melee Power Rankings. He was also invited to participate in theE3 2014-heldSuper Smash Bros. Invitational tournament to playSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, where he usedMega Man.
HugS is widely considered to be the most iconicMelee Samus main, and also playedBrawl competitively for a brief two years where he mainedR.O.B. for the entire duration. HugS was a significant contender in theMLG 2006; he placed in top 8 atMLG Anaheim 2006 andMLG Orlando 2006, upsettingPC Chris early in losers' bracket at the latter tournament. AtMLG New York Playoffs 2006, he placed 8th, successfully qualifying for the MLG 2006 singles championships. He eventually placed 8th atMLG Las Vegas 2006, losing toKen and then toMew2King. One year later, he placed 2nd atEVO World 2007, narrowly losing to Ken in grand finals, and is tied withDuck as the closest a Samus has come to winning a major. He was picked up by Frequency Gaming on July 3rd, 2014 until their dissolution on February 14th, 2015. On June 2nd, 2016 he was signed to Dream Team. He left the team on December 1st,soon after other members of Dream Team left amid allegations of mispayment.[1].
On December 14th, 2016, he joinedLucky as a member of Selfless Gaming[2]. He left the team on July 7th, 2017[3]. He was signed withDignitas on January 12th, 2018.[4] He left Dignitas on May 23rd, 2023.[5]
