Gackt (がくと) is a Japanese smasher who has been active inSmash since 2005.[1] He is known for hisNess across two differentSmash titles.
Though active inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, Gackt first became known inSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, where he was considered Japan's bestNess player and was infamous for hisPK Thunder 2 reads. Though inconsistent throughout his career, he was known for many great performances such as his run to 5th atUmebura 14, defeatingAbadango atRikabura 8, and defeatingTsu atUmebura 28. Internationally, he became known for placing 17th atThe Big House 7, where he defeatedANTi,Mistake, andLocus. Though he was never ranked on a global ranking, many players considered him one of the bestSmash 4 Ness players in the world, especially in the game's final year.
Gackt continued to mainNess inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, where he became the best Ness player in the world almost immediately, with several top 8 performances in the early metagame. His success continued in the post-pandemic metagame, and although his performances were often inconsistent, conversely he is known for having Ness's best peaks, including placing 3rd atKagaribi 7,Maesuma TOP 12, andS Factor 11. He was ranked in the top 100 for several years, peaking at 23rd on theLumiRank 2024.1. As such, he is widely considered to be the greatestUltimate Ness player of all time.
Playstyle[edit]
Gackt relies on bothPK Thunder andPK Fire to createmindgames and devastating ledgetraps, allowing him to apply constant pressure and close out stocks quickly. He often uses aggressive aerials alongsidePSI Magnet and Ness'sdown tilt to get in and break his opponent's defense.

- Gackt has an alter-ego calledMeister G(マイスターG), a top-level Ness player created and portrayed by himself. He wears sunglasses and a jacket with no shirts whenever he shows up in his livestream.
- Meister G claims that Gackt is his younger brother. He gets angry when someone talks as if they are the same person.
- His unique way of talking and sarcastic attitude has gained him a lot of fans, to the point that he is now one of the most popular Smash livestreamers in Japan.
