SmashWiki maintains a short list ofnews on itsMain Page (via {{News}}). This policy details the rules for what is considered sufficiently notable news to include.

Official news[edit]

News released by Nintendo or other developers of the Super Smash Bros. series is generally important to have. This includes:

  • A new game is announced.
  • More information is revealed about an upcoming game (see below).
  • A game has been given an update or patch.

In the case of reveals relating to upcoming games, there are additional considerations based on the nature of what was revealed.

  • The following aredefinitely worthy: playable characters, stages, items
  • The following areprobably worthy: assist characters, new modes
  • The following arenot worthy: old modes, new elements of previously-known things

If a new-game-related announcement has a great deal of information too large for one news item, only the revealed characters should be listed. The news item should then mention that many other things were revealed, and preferably link to a wiki page on the subject.

While we use "game" above, this also covers DLC.

Community news[edit]

During the "downtime" between new games, community news has a chance to come to the forefront. Noteworthy items include:

  • Results of major tournaments.
  • Release of a major global ranking or a new officially-recognized tier list.
