Silver Bow (神弓シルバーリップ,God Bow Silver Lip) isDark Pit'sneutral special move.

Overview[edit]

LikePalutena Bow, Dark Pit pulls his bow string back and prepares to fire an arrow. Aesthetically, Dark Pit's arrows are made of dark purple energy instead of blue light, and lacks Pit's arm rings circling the arrow while charging. It can be charged for approximately 2 seconds to increase its range and damage, and can be reversed or aimed upwards. In contrast to its counterpart, Silver Bow's arrows have a shorter range and have extremely low maneuverability when fired, but have a slightly faster traveling speed, deal more damage, and possess higher knockback, especially when charged. This makes the arrows simpler to use and more effective for damage-racking and KOing, at the cost of being easier to dodge and significantly less effective for edgeguarding.

InUltimate, Silver Bow is slightly faster in general, while the projectile sends at a lower angle and gains even more speed and damage when charged, making it significantly stronger than Palutena Bow. Combined, this gives Silver Bow actual KO potential if charged, especially if used to edgeguard.

Origin[edit]

The Silver Bow as it appears inUprising.

The Silver Bow appears inKid Icarus: Uprising as a usable weapon. It is always Dark Pit's weapon as a non-playable character during land stages, starting with the final boss fight against him in Chapter 6.

Dark Pit's use of theSilver Bow to fire dark arrows, which the weapon did not do inUprising, may be a reference to Dark Pit's appearances in flight stages in that game, namely the ones in Chapter 6 and Chapter 9. During those stages, Dark Pit wielded aFirst Blade, Pit's default weapon inUprising and the most basic type ofBlade; however, Dark Pit's version fired shots of darkness, unlike the player's version firing light shots.

Trivia[edit]

  • IfKirby copies Silver Bow and uses the move at the end of his forward, back, or up throw, he will float in the air until he stops charging the move. This was fixed in version 1.0.5 for the 3DS.
  • InKid Icarus: Uprising, the Silver Bow fires green bolts of light, but inSSB4 it fires black and purple colored arrows, possibly to be in line with Dark Pit's "dark" motif and to be an antithesis to Pit's light-colored arrows.
    • The arrows themselves seem to be based on the ones shot by theDarkness Bow or fromSkuttlers, as they share a similar coloration.
  • Ironically, the description for the Silver Bow inKid Icarus: Uprising specifically emphasizes the bow's high fire rate and homing capabilities, while the version inSmash has low speed and little maneuverability.
