Paon DP (株式会社パオン・ディーピー), known before asPaon Corporation andDP Inc. respectively, is a Japanese video game company that makes games forNintendo. Paon was initially founded on January 20, 1999, and merged with DP on August 3, 2004. WhenRare Ltd., a company that made games in theDonkey Kong series for Nintendo until it became a subsidiary ofMicrosoft in 2002, left Nintendo, Nintendo used Paon to develop certainDonkey Kong games such asDK: King of Swing,DK: Jungle Climber andDonkey Kong Barrel Blast. In addition to makingDonkey Kong titles, they were also one of many game developers to buy the rights to many franchises previously owned by Data East after its bankruptcy, includingKarnov (who still appears onFighter History, which is owned by G-Mode),Atomic Runner,WindJammers,Kuuga andGlory of Heracles, which would later get an installment for the Nintendo DS in 2008 published by Nintendo titled "Glory of Heracles: Proof of the Soul" (Released in North America as simply "Glory of Heracles"). They also worked on re-releasing old games for theWii Virtual Console.

Paon's onlySuper Smash Bros. game isSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, which they developed in co-operation withSora Ltd.,HAL Laboratory, Inc.,Monolith Soft,Intelligent Systems andGame Arts.

InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

Paon was a lead developer for this game. The studio handled later assignments on the foundation created bySora Ltd. andGame Arts.

All three of Paon'sDonkey Kong-developed titles,King of Swing,Jungle Climber, andBarrel Blast, have been represented through severaltrophies andstickers. In addition,Barrel Blast was also represented with a music track calledDK Jungle 1 Theme (Barrel Blast), which plays onRumble Falls.

InSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U[edit]

A song fromGlory of Heracles for the Nintendo DS appears in theColiseum stage titledGlory of Heracles.

InSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

After having all of its content cut fromSmash 4,Donkey Kong Barrel Blast received representation again with Kip and Kalypso returning asspirits, as well as aKritter using artwork from said game. Additionally,DK: Jungle Climber received representation again with theBoss 2 - DK: Jungle Climber music track.

Heracles, as he appears inGlory of Heracles for the Nintendo DS, as well as the protagonist of said game, both appear as spirits. TheGlory of Heracles music track returns fromSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, now only playing on stages from non-playable universes,Ice Climber, andDuck Hunt.
