It evolves fromCosmoem when leveled up inPokémon Moon,Pokémon Ultra Moon,Pokémon Shield, orPokémon Violet starting at level 53. It is one ofCosmog's final forms, the other beingSolgaleo.Necrozma fuses with Lunala using theN-Lunarizer to become Dawn Wings Necrozma.

Once summoned, Lunala teleports to the background of the stage, readying its signature move, Moongeist Beam (シャドーレイ,Shadow Ray), a large, lingering damage-dealing laser; it will fire a laser at an opponent before dragging it upwards towards the top of the screen. It repeats this process 3 times before flying away. It can only aim at grounded opponents, otherwise aiming at the last point on the ground the opponent was on before entering the air.

On most stages, Lunala has a spawn chance of12/1463 from Poké Balls and40/842 from Master Balls. It has a modified spawn weight on the following stages (actual chances may vary based on changes to other Pokémon):

Lunala cannot be summoned on the following stages in a standard versus match (applies only to the base form unless noted otherwise):

Spirit[edit]

Lunala also appears as an Ace-classprimary spirit. InAdventure Mode: World of Light, its spirit is called as part ofDharkon's reinforcements inThe Final Battle after the firstMaster Hand is defeated.

Lunala's Spirit Battle uses a GoldRidley puppet fighter with 160 HP and is fought on theBattlefield form ofLuigi's Mansion. Ridley starts with a Poké Ball that contains Lunala.
