Many playable characters inSmash wield firearms as their primary weapons.

The following is a list of allfirearms used by playable characters as weapons in theSuper Smash Bros. series.

Peanut Popgun[edit]

The Peanut Popgun trophy inSSB4.

InSmash, Diddy Kong uses the Peanut Popgun in all of his playable appearances as part of hisneutral special and his Final Smash inBrawl andSSB4. In his home series, the Peanut Popgun is a firearm created byFunky Kong, first introduced inDonkey Kong 64 and has been an iconic Diddy Kong-related item in the series ever since. With it, Diddy is capable of attacking enemies from a distance, triggering switches on walls, and popping balloons. As the game progresses, players are able to increase the amount of ammo it can carry, add on a sniper scope to enable the first-person mode to shoot farther distances, and also gain a homing feature so all of Diddy's peanuts will automatically fly towards enemies.

Unlike theSmash incarnation, Diddy is not capable of eating the ammo of the gun in his home series. The homing feature, conversely, is not present inSmash.

Kirby can also use the Peanut Popgun if he copies Diddy's neutral special.

Blunderbuss[edit]

King K. Rool's Blunderbuss inUltimate.
See also:Blunderbuss

The Blunderbuss is a comically oversized musket that has been first used by Kaptain K. Rool,King K. Rool's pirate alter ego inDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. InSmash, King K. Rool uses the Blunderbuss as part of his neutral special, which allows him to shoot a Kannonball and vacuum the Kannonball or opponents inside the gun in order to reshoot them. In its original appearance, the Blunderbuss was a far more versatile weapon, being capable to shoot spiked balls, barrels, and poisonous mist that would have adverse effects on Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong, such as slowing them down, freezing them or reversing the inputs from the player. In contrast, the vacuum couldn't be used to suck Diddy and Dixie inside the Blunderbuss, merely dragging them towards Kaptain K. Rool, and vacuuming a Kannonball would damage K. Rool instead of allowing him to reshoot it.

Arm Cannon[edit]

The Arm Cannon isSamus andDark Samus's main weapon. It firesshots of energy that can be charged up, as well asmissiles. While Samus's cannon is visibly distinct from the rest of her Power Suit, Dark Samus's cannon is homogeneous with the rest of her body. InSSB4, Dark Samus uses her Arm Cannon as anAssist Trophy to fire blasts of Phazon.Mii Gunners can also wield the Arm Cannon as part of the costume based on Samus.

InSmash, Zero Suit Samus uses the Paralyzer in both of her playable appearances as part of herneutral special andside special, as well as herdown smash,up smash, neutral air, grab, andthrows. It also has the ability to form anenergywhip to physically attack enemies, a trait exclusive to theSmash Bros. series. The weapon itself was first introduced in theMetroid series inZero Mission, and remained unnamed up until its appearance inOther M, a game made afterBrawl, officially being called the Paralyzer.

Kirby can also use the Paralyzer if he copies Samus's neutral special.

Blaster[edit]

Fox carrying the blaster inUltimate.

The blaster is an energy-firing pistol shared betweenFox,Falco andWolf. Fox and Falco's blasters have identical appearances, but function differently: Fox's blaster rapid-fires red lasers that don'tflinch opponents, while Falco's fires slower, blue lasers that cause opponents to flinch. Wolf's blaster has a unique design, with a small bayonet below its barrel enabling him to deal physical damage to an enemy should they be right next to him when he uses it. Its fire is green inBrawl and purple inUltimate; while even slower than Falco's, the shots do considerable damage. Each character uses their Blaster for their respectiveneutral specials, though Fox and Falco also use theirs for some of their throws.

Kirby can also use the Blaster if he copies Fox's, Falco's, or Wolf's neutral specials.Mii Gunners can also wield the Fox's Blaster as part of the costume based on Fox.

Dark Pit Staff[edit]

InSmash, Dark Pit uses the Dark Pit Staff as part of his Final Smash. In theKid Icarus series,Staffs are divine weapons that—contrary to their name—are designed and wielded akin to long-range rifles or sniper rifles. The further one is away from their enemy, the more damage they deal against them. The Dark Pit Staff is the second strongest staff inUprising, with only the Thanatos Staff outranking it in power and ability. The Dark Pit Staff though has the unique trait of being the only staff whose long-ranged and short-ranged attacks are equal in power.

Inkling's Arsenal[edit]

Female Inkling with the Splattershot stocked with Orange Ink.

InSmash,Inkling has access to a plethora of ink-spewing weapons, many of which are firearms. In theSplatoon series, these weapons are made for sprayingink onto inkable terrain and dealing damage to one's opponents, which will "splat" said opponents if their health gets depleted. InSmash, fighters covered inink from any ink-spewing moves will take up to 1.5x damage from every attack until the ink deteriorates. Kirby can also use the Splattershot if he copies an Inkling's neutral special.

Snake's Arsenal[edit]

The RGB6 Grenade Launcher from Snake's Final Smash inBrawl, as seen inMetal Gear Solid 2.

InSmash, Snake has access to a plethora of military-grade weapons, many of which are firearms, provided to him by the organization he works for in his many stealth missions.

  • A Remote Missile for his Side Special.
  • An RPG-7 Rocket Launcher for his Forward Smash.
  • A Mortar that fires an explosive shell into the air for his Up Smash.
  • An RGB6 Grenade Launcher as part of his Final Smash inBrawl.
  • A handgun strapped to his right thigh but never used.

Each weapon is designed to work in specific situations Snake may find himself in when he's forced to fight an enemy during a stealth mission, such as remote missiles to take out an enemy in a specific location, as well as act as decent distractions far from a hiding place.

Mega Buster[edit]

Mega Man using his Mega Buster inUltimate.

The Mega Buster is Mega Man's most basic weapon, an arm cannon that fires shots of energy. Mega Man can use the Buster while standing, walking, and jumping; it can also be charged to fire a more powerful shot. When using the Variable Weapons System, the Mega Buster can also adapt to fire other kinds of projectiles. Either of Mega Man's hands can transform into Mega Busters, though using both simultaneously causes him to overheat, requiring him to cool down afterward.

In addition,MegaMan Volnutt,MegaMan.EXE andStar Force Mega Man also use weapons known as Mega Busters, though they are different from Mega Man's.Mii Gunners can also wield the Mega Buster as part of the costume based on MegaMan.EXE.

Bayonetta's Handguns[edit]

Bayonetta holding Love is Blue inSSBU.

InSmash,Bayonetta uses two sets of four guns, each set named after a tragic love song. In her default costumes, she wieldsLove is Blue as her primary means of attack. When using Bayonetta's "A Witch With No Memories" costume, Love is Blue is replaced withScarborough Fair, with no difference in function. For both sets, each individual gun has its own name and color-coded gem; for Love is Blue, the handle of each gem has a color-coded jeweled charm hanging from its grip, engraved with a certain flower that has a meaning tied to its name. InSmash, Bayonetta uses the guns for her neutral special, as well asBullet Arts, which allows her to stand in place and fire one of her four guns after nearly all of her moves. Kirby can also use the Love is Blue set of guns if he copies Bayonetta's neutral special.

Along with its flower-engraved gems, the individual guns in Love is Blue—named after musical terms—are:

  • "Prelude", engraved "An Endless Life", its flower a Muscari (otherwise known as grape hyacinth) symbolizing frustration; her left-hand gun with the white gem.
  • "Toccata", engraved "Eye of the Overseer", its flower a marigold symbolizing sorrow; her right-hand gun with the red gem.
  • "Minuet", engraved "A Jealous Lover", its flower cyclamen symbolizing jealousy; her left-heel gun with the green gem.
  • "Nocturne", engraved "The Darkest Night", its flower an Erica (otherwise known as heath or heather) symbolizing solitude; her right-heel gun with the black gem.

The individual guns in Scarborough Fair—named after the lyrics to the eponymous ballad—are:

  • "Parsley, ever Joyous", her right-hand gun with the green gem.
  • "Sage, ever Strong", her left-hand gun with the red gem.
  • "Rosemary, ever Reminiscent", her right-heel gun with the blue gem.
  • "Thyme, ever Courageous", her left-heel gun with the white gem.

Created by the famed angel-turned-demon weaponsmithRodin, Bayonetta actually uses them mostly for melee strikes, pistol-whipping her enemies with every punch and kick she performs. She is capable of creating small explosions while pulling the trigger during impacts, and if held she will pause mid-combo and begin shooting, performing her Bullet Arts technique. The guns are made from a special demonic alloy that, according to Rodin, "the Devil himself would do anything to get his hands on", making them very rare and valuable, and possibly even indestructible. The gemstones embedded into the chambers of each gun house the spirits of demonic fairies from Hell; with their magic, each gun contains an infinite number of auto-loading magical bullets.

ForJoker's neutral special inUltimate he wields a hand pistol, the Tkachev. This is a model gun often used on film sets. It is not capable of firing real bullets, though Joker can use it to shoot imaginary bullets while inside the Metaverse that damage opponents that believe the bullets cause damage. Joker is capable of using it in a variety of ways, standard shots, shooting while moving along the ground, and while in the air he can shoot while spinning 360 degrees or rain a barrage of bullets straight down at his enemies. Kirby can also use the Tkachev if he copies Joker's neutral special.
