Trivia[edit]

  • Minecraft is the only series fromSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate to receive an official soundtrack release for each of its remixed music tracks, with the release ofMinecraft: Steve Rocks the Block (Original Soundtrack) on February 10, 2026.
    • The soundtrack was prematurely available on streaming platforms from January 26th to the 31st before being taken down. It was later re-added on February 10th with the option to purchase and download.
    • It is also the first official soundtrack for theSuper Smash Bros. series to not be released under Nintendo, as it was released under Mojang Studios.
  • Minecraft has the fewest number of music tracks out of allDLC universes inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, with only seven, having one less thanDragon Quest's eight.
    • It is worth noting thatDragon Quest did not receive any new remixes, whereas six of the sevenMinecraft songs are arrangements.
    • Additionally, due toFinal Fantasy gaining nine new music tracks in addition to the two in the base game withSephiroth,Minecraft has the fewest music tracks out of any third-party franchise.
  • Masahiro Sakurai described producingMinecraft music forSmash as difficult for him and his team, even calling it one of the toughest challenges in the history of the series, as music from the original game was unable to be used due to "various circumstances" including apparent licensing difficulties and their style being deemed too relaxing.[3] As a result, the songs are taken from two of the spin-offs —Minecraft Earth andMinecraft Dungeons — and the minigames from the Legacy Console editions ofMinecraft. Sakurai also stated that additional tracks were planned, but scrapped partway through; however, he is satisfied with the overall atmosphere of the final choices.[4]
  • Despite Sakurai stating in theMr. Sakurai Presents that there was a balance between Battle, Tumble, and Glide themes in the song selection, there are no songs from the Tumble minigame, and only one Glide song. It is possible that one or more of the scrapped arrangements were songs that played in Tumble or Glide.
  • The minigames from the Legacy Console editions are not available in the current versions ofMinecraft, making their songs the first inSmash to not be present in the game of origin at the time of being added. Presumably, they were included due to the issues in securing songs from the originalMinecraft soundtrack.
    • Relatedly,Minecraft Earth shut down on June 30th 2021 (8 months after the release of Challenger Pack 7), thus giving "Earth" a similar distinction.
  • "Earth" is the second song inSmash to originate from a mobile game, namelyMinecraft Earth, after "Gear Up For…" fromFire Emblem Heroes.
  • Minecraft Dungeons is the first of two games released in the 2020s to be represented inSmash via music, with the second beingKingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory.
  • Minecraft is the first Western property inSmash where no arrangement was done by one of the original composers.
  • Minecraft andKingdom Hearts are the only major series inUltimate where all songs featured are named identically in both English and Japanese. All songs fromSonic The Hedgehog,Street Fighter, andTekken are listed in English even in the Japanese version, but the exact names vary.
