Instant KO
- This article is about KOs that occur instantly with no launching or crossing of blast lines. For launching attacks powerful enough to KO in one hit, seeOne-hit KO.
Aninstant KO is a type ofKO which occurs instantaneously and in-place, without the fighter passing ablast line or beinglaunched at all. A character suffering an instant KO will disappear into a colorfulstarburst explosion, while letting out one of their blast KO cries, and then (if they have anystocks left)respawn as normal. Instant KOs were introduced asstage hazards inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, and a greater variety of attacks and conditions causing instant KOs were added inSuper Smash Bros. 4 andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, the latter game introducing instant variations ofScreen KOs,Blast zone andStar KOs. Several instant KOs require the opponent to be at a certaindamage threshold in order to be instantly KO'd; otherwise they will be launched as usual.
