Groudon (グラードン,Groudon) is a creature in thePokémon media franchise.
Origin[edit]
Groudon is a Ground-typeLegendary Pokémon and theversion mascot ofPokémon Ruby and, in its Primal form, ofPokémon Omega Ruby. Groudon is categorized within the Pokédex at #383 as the "Continent Pokémon". It is the embodiment of landmasses, and its originally unique abilityDrought is able to summon strong sunlight on the battlefield.
Overheat is a special Fire-type move with 130 (140 before Generation VI) base power and 90% accuracy which lowers by two levels the user's Special Attack stat after each successful use. Groudon is able to learn it by TM or TR in every generation where it is available, usually byTM50.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon[edit]
Groudon can be summoned by aPoké Ball: upon appearing it remains stationary, occasionally turning around, roaring, or moving its head or tail, and uses Overheat, covering itself with a fiery aura which damages all opponents which come in contact with it. Its size makes it hard to avoid when it first appears.
Groudon's effect is very similar toMoltres' one, except Groudon is much larger (approximately twice the size) and lasts longer. However, Groudon's attack is significantly weaker: while touching Moltres can sometimes result in aOHKO, touching Groudon does rather low damage (7% lower belly, 15% mouth, 10% everywhere else) with decent knockback, being incapable of KOing until high percentages (110% for mouth, 150% for body, and lower belly around 285%). While avoiding Groudon can be difficult, Groudon is arguably one of if not the least effective legendary Pokémon in the game, due to its low damage output and difficulty to KO.
Groudon has a spawn chance of5/586.
Glitch[edit]
If Groudon is summoned in an enclosed area that's smaller than Groudon (such as a custom stage with a 1×1 area surrounded by solid objects), it will get stuck, freeze, have no damage hitboxes, and will never despawn.[1]

Groudon once again does not appear as a Poké Ball Pokémon and instead appears as twoprimary spirits. InAdventure Mode: World of Light, Groudon can be found in theMolten Fortress sub-dungeon ofThe Light Realm. Groudon can beenhanced into Primal Groudon once it hits level 99.
Groudon's Spirit Battle uses a red GiantBowser puppet fighter and is fought on theBattlefield form ofNorfair. The stage's floor has a lava hazard, referencing Groudon's habitat or Primal Groudon being Fire type.
