Geemers (ジーマ,Geemer) are enemies in theMetroid franchise.
Origin[edit]
Geemers are basic enemies from manyMetroid games. They originally debuted in thefirst game in the series with the name "Zoomer", although it was more accurately re-translated as "Geemer" inSuper Metroid;Metroid Prime would later establish Geemers and Zoomers as related species. They are not immediately hostile toSamus, and simply move along the borders of terrain. Geemers are generally weak and easily dispatched by a few shots.
The Smash Run appearance of the Geemer is based on its design inOther M, which in turn is modeled after its sprite fromSuper Metroid.
InSuper Smash Bros. 4[edit]
InSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, shadow versions of the Geemers appear insideMaster Fortress. These Geemers can be destroyed instantly by theDanger Zones that dot the fortress's hallways.
In Smash Run[edit]
Geemers appear as enemies inSmash Run inSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. They move along the shape of the terrain, often appearing on soft platforms. They do not actively attack the player, but they deal minor damage on contact and causemeteor smashes if the player is below them. They can also change their direction. It is best to dispatch them withprojectiles or other long-range attacks, as attacking them directly will also hurt the player.
Trophy[edit]
The Geemer trophy is exclusive toSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
- Geemer
These creepy crawlers from the Metroid series cling to any surface, even the ceiling. The spikes on their backs are painful to the touch, so be careful around them. In Smash Run they'll travel on the floors or ceilings, so borrow a page from Samus's book and take them out from afar.
If you spot one of these creatures from the Metroid series crawling along, do your best to avoid those spikes on its back. In Smash Run, they could be on the floor, or they could be on the ceiling. Either way, you'll get hurt if you touch them, so keep a safe distance and take them out with ranged attacks.
InSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
Spirit[edit]
The Geemer appears as a Novice-classprimary spirit, using the Zoomer's artwork fromMetroid: Zero Mission.
The Geemer uses aIvysaur puppet fighter and is fought on theBrinstar stage'sBattlefield form. During the battle, the Ivysaur puppet fighter has increased move speed while the floor is sticky, referencing the Geemer's ability to cling onto walls. TheUnira item appears, referencing the Geemer's ability to extend their spines inMetroid Prime.
