Flinchless
- This article is about the effect called "flinchless". For the hitbox flag of the same name, seeWindbox.
Flinchless is an attackeffect in theSuper Smash Bros. series that debuted inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl but went unused untilSuper Smash Bros. 4. InBrawl, a character hit by a flinchless attack doesn't experienceflinching, knockback, orhitlag. Starting inSmash 4, characters will also be momentarily stopped in place along with the other effects.
Upon being hit (inSmash 4 onwards), the character will have all of their movement halted and will later resume as if they weren't hit by anything. Attack's hitbox will still be active and be able to deal damage, while attacks that create projectiles (such asFire Breath) will stop creating more projectiles for the duration. The duration of the pause is equal to the attack's base knockback inframes—for example, a base knockback of 5 results in 5 frames (1/12th of a second) of frozen movement.
The flinchless effect is not to be confused with attacks likeFox'sBlaster or the 1 card ofMr. Game & Watch'sJudge, which havezero knockback (thus no flinching) and none of the other properties of the effect.
