Exeggutor (ナッシーNassy) is a creature from thePokémon franchise. Its Alolan form appears as aPoké Ball Pokémon inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Origin[edit]

Exeggutor is a Grass/Psychic-type Pokémon that first appeared inGeneration I, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #103 as the "Coconut Pokémon". It evolves fromExeggcute via aLeaf Stone while in any other region other thanAlola, or inUltra Space. Exeggutor has an appearance similar to a palm tree, with three coconut-like heads and clawed feet. It is said that each head thinks independently, and can communicate to come to a consensus; however, they do not always agree. If one of Exeggutor's heads grows too large, it falls off and becomes an Exeggcute.

The Alolan variant of Exeggutor is a Grass/Dragon-type that was first introduced inGeneration VII. It evolves from Exeggcute via a Leaf Stone exclusively in Alola. Alolan Exeggutor is similar to its Kantonian form, with the primary difference being its height; the abundance of sunshine in Alola causes it to grow over five times its original size. It is the fourth tallest non-Gigantamax Pokémon, standing at a height of about 11 meters (35 feet), surpassed only byDondozo, at about 12 meters (39 feet) tall,Wailord, at about 14.5 meters (47 feet) tall, andEternatus, at about 20 meters (65 feet) tall. As such, official artwork and in-game models depict the Pokémon as towering over every other character.

Block is a Normal-type status move that, when used, prevents the target Pokémon from switching out or fleeing normally. Alolan Exeggutor can only learn Block throughbreeding, the use of aMirror Herb, or theMove Tutor inBig Wave Beach inPokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Alolan Exeggutor appears as a Poké Ball summon. Once it is summoned, its body acts as awall, dividing the battlefield and blocking both character movement and projectile paths. Characters with the ability towall cling orwall jump can do so on Alolan Exeggutor's body. When released, it usesBlock, acting as a temporary wall and slowly walking from side to side.

Alolan Exeggutor has a spawn chance of40/1463. It cannot be summoned on the following stages in a standard versus match (applies only to the base form unless noted otherwise):

Spirit[edit]

Alolan Exeggutor also appears as an Advanced-classsupport spirit. InAdventure Mode: World of Light, its spirit appears in the island area ofThe Light Realm.

Alolan Exeggutor's Spirit Battle uses a giant greenPalutena puppet fighter with 140 HP and is fought on a hazardlessTortimer Island. Palutena must be defeated within a minute, and she favors up smash attacks which summons a tall pillar of light, referencing Alolan Exeggutor's tall shape. She also starts with a Poké Ball that can immediately summon Alolan Exeggutor.

Trivia[edit]

  • To accommodate for its gameplay gimmick, Alolan Exeggutor's neck is stretched out much further in itsUltimate appearance than how it appears in thePokémon games. This can most easily be seen by comparing its in-game model betweenUltimateMedia:SSBUAlolanExeggutor.png andSun andMoon.
