Trivia[edit]

  • This event match is a reference to the boss battle inZelda II: The Adventure of Link where Link battles Dark Link in theGreat Palace, which the Temple stage is based on.
    • Link's red costume is a reference to theShield spell used by Link, which would reduce damage taken from the boss battle against Dark Link, which also turns his green tunic red.
  • The description of this event match states that Link has "two" dark sides. The significance behind this state has been claimed that it serves as a reference to Dark Link's debut appearance in thesecondZelda game, though it has also been claimed that it serves as a reference to Dark Link's second appearance as a miniboss inThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; however, it could merely be a reference to the fact that Dark Link has two stocks and must therefore be defeated twice.
