El Salvador
El Salvador is aSmash region that encompasses thecountry of the same name. It bordersHonduras to the north andGuatemala to the south. Tournament activity primarily takes place in the country's capital city, San Salvador.
El Salvador is considered one of the strongestCentral American countries. Its strength is the result of having many players succeed at Central America's largest events, though not to the extent of Guatemala andCosta Rica's best players. The first to do so wasLuisfer, who was able to see respectable performances atSuper Smash Bros. 4 majors in theUnited States.Super Smash Bros. Ultimate especially greatly improved El Salvador's presence in the competitive scene thanks to the region receiving greater recognition on thePGR, whose improved international multiplier for the ill-fatedSpring 2020 PGRU season allowed Salvadorian tournaments to count for the rankings for the first time in their competitive history. The post-COVID-19 pandemic metagame also saw improved results from bothRomeo Santos andWolfen, both of whom became the first Salvadorian players to rank on a global ranking, doing so on theLumiRank 2024.2. This metagame also saw the rise of theLegends series, which became the largest tournament series in Central America, attracting players from all across Central America andMexico.
