Cyndaquil (ヒノアラシ,Hinoarashi) is a creature from thePokémon media franchise.

Origin[edit]

Cyndaquil's official artwork fromPokémon Gold and Silver.

Cyndaquil is the basic Fire-typeStarter Pokémon ofGeneration II, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #155 as the "Fire Mouse Pokémon". It evolves intoQuilava at level 14 and then intoTyphlosion at level 36. In Pokemon Legends Arceus, Cyndaquil still evolves into Quilava, but then later evolves into the Fire/Ghost type Hisuian Typhlosion. It can learnFlamethrower by level-up or, starting withGeneration III, withTM35 in every game where it appears.

InSuper Smash Bros. Melee[edit]

As aPoké Ball Pokémon[edit]

Cyndaquil using Flamethrower.

When summoned from a Poké Ball, Cyndaquil will hop into the air and useFlamethrower, shooting fire from its back. Anyone that is caught in the attack's range will take consistentflamedamage similar toBowser'sFire Breath. It's optimal to grab an opponent while facing Cyndaquil, creating a "trap" of sorts that allows the opponent to take as much damage as possible. Flamethrower has a small attack radius, so it is relatively easy to avoid otherwise. To add, Cyndaquil can be knocked off the stage by anycharacter (even the summoner) using attacks oritems, similar toMarill andChansey. Nothing is awarded for defeating Cyndaquil.

Cyndaquil has a spawn chance of30/583.

Trophy[edit]

Cyndaquil features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in theTrophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches.

Cyndaquil frighten easily, so they're often found curled up in balls. When threatened, they flare the flames on their backs to drive off enemies. Cyndaquil was one of three Pokémon that trainers could choose from at the beginning of Pokémon Silver, Gold, and Crystal. No one knows if their eyes are open.

InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

Cyndaquil does not return as a Poké Ball Pokémon, but it still appears as a trophy.

A Fire Mouse Pokémon. It's a timid creature that often curls up into a ball. When threatened, it flares up the flames on its back to scare off enemies. When it's angry, it can produce powerful flames, but when it's tired, it has trouble producing fire and suffers from incomplete combustion. When it levels up, it evolves into Quilava. Its squinty eyes are adorable.
