Costa Rica is aSmash region that encompasses thecountry of the same name. It bordersNicaragua to the north andPanama to the southeast. Tournament activity primarily takes place in the country's capital, San José.
Costa Rica is considered one of the strongest regions inCentral America. The region is especially known for being the home region forYei, who was considered Central America's best player inSmash 4 and early-Ultimate and the most successful Central American player at internationalSmash 4 andUltimate events; as his activity was strictly in Central America andMexico, he was considered one of the strongest hidden bosses in early-Ultimate. Though no other Costa Rican players have been able to match Yei's success, the scene is the home to many other noteworthy talent, includingMtKat andMorsalsa. In addition, Costa Rica is the home toCUMBRE andCUMBRE 2 invitationals, which featured many of Central America's best players, in addition to international talent.
