Celebi (セレビィ,Celebi) is a creature in thePokémon franchise.
Origin[edit]
Celebi is a Psychic/Grass-typeMythical Pokémon introduced inGeneration II, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #251 as the "Time Travel Pokémon". It is depicted as the guardian of the forests and possesses the ability to travel through time, though this ability is shown in the main seriesPokémon games only in a secret event inPokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Despite itsDOJO!! description, Celebi cannot learnFly in any game. In the National Pokédex, it is registered as #251 and it is also the last Pokémon in the Johto Dex.
InSuper Smash Bros. Melee[edit]
As a Poké Ball Pokémon[edit]
Celebi is very special among the Pokémon who can be summoned. First, it must beunlocked by unlocking allstages, unlockingScore Display (5,000 KOs), and seeingMew at least once. Once done, the chance of Celebi appearing is 1/251 ("251" being the total number of Pokémon in existence at the time ofMelee's release) just like Mew.
Like Mew, Celebi's action is not an attack: Celebi gently flies off the screen a few seconds after it's summoned. Afterwards, the summoner is awarded the rare "Celebi Catcher" bonus for 8,000 points. The first time this is achieved, it yields aspecial achievement message saying "You've encountered Celebi for the first time!" and awards the player the Celebitrophy.
Celebi's and Mew's chance to spawn are determined independently, with Celebi being determined before Mew. Additionally, either of the two can only appear once per match, meaning if Mew appears then Celebi cannot or vice versa, and then neither will be able to appear afterwards.
Trophy[edit]
Celebi, as with all other Poké Ball Pokémon, features as a collectible trophy. The trophy is earned by encountering Celebi once during any match. This makes it one of the hardest trophies to earn because the player must play the majority of the game along with the small 1/251 chance.

- Celebi has the power to travel through time, and thus wanders from one age to the next. It is considered a deity by the forests: plants and trees are said to grow in unimaginable abundance wherever Celebi visits. Like Mew, Celebi is a Pokémon shrouded in mystery. Its special techniques blend grass and psychic powers.

Celebi returns as a Poké Ball Pokémon inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl. Its behavior remains the same, but instead of awarding a bonus it drops several trophies as it flys away. After the player first sees Celebi, they will get a notice saying that they have seen it for the first time and "It is a rare event indeed".
Mew,Jirachi, and Celebi appear 1/493 of the time individually, with there being 493 Pokémon inGeneration IV, the latest Generation at the time ofBrawl's release.

- Celebi
- A Time Travel Pokémon. Celebi can travel throughout time and inhabit multiple places simultaneously. It is said that it appears only during times of peace, greeted by a flourishing of grass and trees. Two turns after Celebi uses its Future Sight move, the foe is bombarded with psychic energy. This proves to have a devastating impact on any Pokémon.

- This Pokémon has the unique ability to travel through time to the past or future. However, the only times Celebi wants to visit are those of peace, so catching sight of Celebi in one of the beautiful forests it frequents is a good sign indeed. Perhaps it's mankind's responsibility to create the kind of time Celebi would want to visit.
InSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
Spirit[edit]
Celebi appears as a Legend-classsupport spirit.
InAdventure Mode: World of Light, Celebi is one of countless spirits captured byGaleem during his takeover of the universe. After Galeem's defeat,Dharkon takes control of Galeem's spirits, including Celebi. Celebi's spirit is located in theSacred Land sub-dungeon ofThe Dark Realm.
Celebi's Spirit Battle uses aMewtwo puppet fighter and is fought on theGarden of Hope stage'sBattlefield form. During the battle, the stage is covered with fog. Also, the player's fighter takes minor damage while Mewtwo heals overtime, referencing Celebi'sLeech Seed move, which drains the opponent's health every turn and restores the user's health.
