King Bulblin (キングブルブリン,King Bulblin) is a mini-boss fromThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. He appears along his steed,Lord Bullbo (キングブルボー,King Bullbo).

Origin[edit]

King Bulblin as he appears on the Bridge of Eldin inTwilight Princess.

InThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess King Bulblin is the leader of theBulblins, a race of small goblin-like beings. He acts as the driving force ofLink's actions in the beginning of the game, beforeZant's introduction: he attacks theOrdon Village and kidnapsIlia andColin, incapacitating Link. Link then travels the land of Hyrule to find the children of Ordon Village, meeting up with and defeating King Bulblin four times over the course of his adventure. In his final encounter, it is revealed he is actually capable of speech, much to Midna’s shock.

One of these battles is set on the Bridge of Eldin: in it, Link fights against King Bulblin jousting-style, ridingEpona while his foe ridesLord Bullbo, his oversizedBullbo steed. After his defeat, King Bulblin falls in the river below. Contrary to hisSmash appearance, he is not the cause of the bridge's destruction inTwilight Princess. Instead, part of the bridge is transported to theGerudo Mesa by aTwilight Portal.

King Bulblin occasionally uses a war horn to alert his Bulblin troops.

Bulblins[edit]

Bulblins are a race of enemies that resemble small goblin-like beings, and are the disciples of King Bulblin. Bulblins wield either a club or a bow, and serve as an obstacle for Link on his journey. They also appear inThe Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, with a nearly-identical appearance, attempting to attack Link as he rides theSpirit Train.

InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

As astage hazard[edit]

King Bulblin appears as a hazard onBridge of Eldin. Occasionally, a war horn trumpets, and shortly after King Bulblin will appear from either side of the stage, riding Lord Bullbo across the bridge. When in the middle of the bridge he drops a bomb which explodes after a short while, blowing up a large middle portion of the stage, and inflicting very powerfulsemi-spike knockback to anyone caught in the explosion. Lord Bullbo will also damage characters it charges into, though the knockback inflicted is weak and not a threat to KO without being very close to the side blastzones. Sometimes, King Bulblin is followed by a Bulblin minion on foot, which can be attacked by players, and if damaged enough, will be launched off the stage, but it does not attack or cause damage itself. Hitting King Bulblin can temporarily stun him, and while in this state Lord Bullbo will lose the ability to harm players with its charging, but King Bulblin still drops the bomb, and regardless of how much damage he sustains he cannot be defeated.
