Banzai Bills (マグナムキラー,Magnum Killer), also known asBomber Bills, are enemies from theMario series.
Origin[edit]
Banzai Bills first debuted inSuper Mario World as recurring enemies, and has become recurring enemies in laterMario games. They are larger versions ofBullet Bills with a shark-tooth smile and lack of white arms and hands. Most subspecies of Bullet Bill additionally have a Banzai equivalent.
In their earlier appearances, Banzai Bills are fired from offscreen and move towards the player in a straight line, unlike how Bullet Bills are shot fromBill Blasters. In later games, however, they are shot from large cannons. Similar to the Bullet Bills, they can be easily defeated by jumping on them, though their large size makes this difficult.
A Banzai Bill takes a relatively prominent role inThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, in which Bowser uses it as a last-second counterattack against the Mushroom Kingdom, which TanookiMario outsmarts by tricking it into flying into the warp pipe that sent him to the Mushroom Kingdom, causing an explosion that leads to the Mushroom and human worlds colliding. The film is also the debut of the enemy's new name "Bomber Bill", with the name being officially adopted by the games beginning withSuper Mario Party Jamboree.
InSuper Smash Bros.[edit]
As an assist[edit]
InSuper Smash Bros., golden Banzai Bills appear as part ofMaster Hand's Finger Bullet move, which deals 5% damage each. If Master Hand's HP is 100 or above, he will fire one set of Banzai Bills, if his HP is below 100 he will fire three sets.
InSuper Smash Bros. Melee[edit]
As abackground character[edit]
Banzai Bills occasionally appear in their original forms asbackground characters in theYoshi's Island stage.
As astage hazard[edit]
Banzai Bills appear as a stage hazard in thePrincess Peach's Castle stage.
Banzai Bills will appear from beyond the blast line and start flying towards the castle. It will then crash and burrow into a random wall, where it will start to flash, indicating that it is about to explode. When it explodes, any fighter caught in its blast radius will take heavy damage and extremeknockback. The explosion involves numerous small hits before finally resulting in one final blow that causes aone-hit KO, though it is possible toDI out of the explosion before the final, fatal blow. Any fighter who makes contact with a Banzai Bill before it explodes will take light damage and knockback.
Trophy[edit]
In the 1.0 and 1.01 versions ofMelee, the Banzai Bill trophy is named "Bullet Bill", and says "In Super Smash Bros. Melee, all Bullet Bills are extra large" instead of naming Banzai Bills at all; in reality,Bullet Bills are similar-looking but different enemies. In the 1.02 NTSC and PAL version, Banzai Bills are named. The game it is listed as first appearing in is also that of the Bullet Bill (Super Mario Bros.), however Banzai Bills first appeared inSuper Mario World—this was not corrected in later versions.
- Banzai Bill
(1.0 & 1.01 NTSC) Bullet Bills are shot out of cannons and fly on straight paths. In great numbers, they're a nightmare; while Mario can stop most with a single jump, the rare giant one is much tougher to avoid. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, all Bullet Bills are extra large. They burrow into Princess Peach's castle and then detonate with immense power.

- Banzai Bill
A giant bullet-like menace from the Mario series. In Smash Run, they want nothing more than to blow up on you. If you trick them into crashing, they'll get stuck and blow up soon after. Beware that lethal blast radius! Beat one before it blows up to get a banzai bonanza of stats. Tricky, but well worth the effort!
This giant bullety menace from the Mario series might look tough, but one jump is typically all it takes to deal with it! In Smash Tour, a Banzai Bill will sometimes charge into a space and explode, destroying any items there. Players caught in the blast will be launched to another space.:Super Mario World (08/1991)
