Armanks (アーマン,Arman) are some of the more powerful enemies inAdventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary. They first appear inThe Wilds (Part I).

Enemy description[edit]

Although they look like large tanks, they are in reality nothing more than green blob-like creatures inside of vehicles. The vehicles that the creatures reside in bear similarities to a tank, but instead of a traditional cannon, they are equipped with large, retractable arms similar to that of a construction crane. While their arm is retracted, Armanks are immune to essentially all damage, as well as only being able to roll around on their treads, which deals damage to any player who makes contact with their treads. Eventually, they will extend their arm, which may then either shoot out in a ramming attack towards any nearby player, perform a sweeping attack along the ground, or fire energy pulses.

In the event that the arm is destroyed, the Armank's chassis is forced open, revealing the actual enemy (a large, panicking gelatinous green blob), which is the Armank's only vulnerable point. If this weak spot is attacked repeatedly, the Armank, chassis and all, will perform short, non-damaging bounces, preventing it from closing its chassis again. If the Armank is successful in closing its chassis, it will reproduce its arm and restart the cycle. Additionally, if a player attacks an Armank the moment it appears (before it makes contact with the ground), they will be able to deal damage as if they had already destroyed the Armank's arm. According to the Armank trophy, it is used as a construction vehicle. When trying to capture itstrophy, theTrophy Stand can be thrown at any part of it, even with the arm equipped, but its health must still be lowered.

Name origin[edit]

Armank's name is a combination of the words "armor" or "arm" and "tank". The arm part might describe the mechanical arm that it uses to attack the player.

Moveset[edit]

Notes: The "d" below is a multiplier based on thedifficulty value. Final damage is rounded down to the nearest whole number. The move names are fan-made in the absence of an official source.
NameDamageDescription
Move8 + 1.5dAs Armank moves around, its treads deal damage with fixed knockback.
Straight punch14 + 2.9dArmank pulls its claw backwards, spins it, then thrusts it at the player. Can be angled downwards, straight, upwards, or straight up. Deals moderate horizontalknockback. Every punch angle has the same properties save for timing, wherein the downward and straight up punches come out oneframe faster than the others (frame 58 vs 59).
Sweep11 + 2.1d (claw, sweet)
7 + 1.9d (claw, sour)
7 + 1.5d (body)
If a player is close enough to an Armank to where it can't hit them with its other attacks, it will place its claw on the ground and spin around. Deals moderate knockback and 10% additionalshield damage.
Energy pulse2 + 1.0d (edge)
12 + 2.8d (center)
Armank opens its claw wide and fire an energy pulse towards the player. The edge of the pulse deals weakelectric damage that can hit every frame while the center dealsflame damage and moderate knockback.

Trophy[edit]

Armank
A brutal enemy in theSubspace Army or mobile construction equipment? Yes, it moves on treads and has a functional construction arm, but that arm is also capable of brutal attacks. Continue attacking the arm to reveal the Armank's weak spot. Wait... It looks like there's mud on the end of the arm! Maybe the Armank IS just a construction vehicle for the Subspace Army!
