Watch No Doubt Cameo on ‘Portlandia’ in a Hot Air Balloon

Written by

No Doubt, fresh off their“Hella Good” appearance onJimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week, stopped by another comedy TV show last night: IFC’s Carrie Brownstein andFred Armisen-starringPortlandia. The episode, titled “Nina’s Birthday,” focuses on Brownstein and Armisen’s gender role-reversed couple Lance and Nina, and, as the name suggests, it’s Nina’s birthday. For a last-minute surprise, Brownstein’s unsettlingly deep-voiced Lance presents Armisen’s fussy Nina with a pair of horses and a hot air ballon cameo from the Anaheim foursome. Gwen, Tony, Adrian, and Tom smile and wave from up above, but, just likeJack White before them, the band didn’t play any tunes. Nina, stunned by this arbitrary expression of love, can only think to ask Stefani what her husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, does for her birthday and whether the two ever get into fights. Gwen can’t hear the question, but if the married couple’srecent “Glycerine” duet is any indicator, things are just fine.
