  CHILDAID 2022 ended on Tuesday (Dec 13) night with rapturous applause from the audience. After two years of staging restrictions that forced it to contend with small casts, the return of scale and spectacle to the charity concert was more than welcomed by the 1,400-strong audience at the University Cultural Centre in Kent Ridge.
  
  By the end of the night, the concert, organised by The Business Times and The Straits Times, had raised over S$2 million, with generous donations from main sponsors United Overseas Bank, Citi Singapore and MES Group, as well as platinum sponsor Kanesaka Sushi Pte Ltd. The presentation of the cheque from key donors to SPH Media Trust was witnessed by guest-of-honour President Halimah Yacob.

  Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) Leong Mun Wai’s adjournment motion included “bogus allegations” about how the Government manages public funds, said Second Minister for Finance and National Development Indranee Rajah in Parliament on Monday (Oct 3).
  
  Mr Leong, the NCMP from Progress Singapore Party, had questioned the financial reasoning behind the Government’s decision to provide funding support for SPH Media Trust and the cost involved in taking over the ownership and management of Sports Hub.
  
  He described them in his speech for the adjournment motion as “two significant outlays of taxpayer's money”, and reminders of the need to ensure “better oversight of public expenditures”.

  SPH consists of non-media assets such as retail and aged care properties, after it restructured its media business - which includes titles such as The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao - into not-for-profit entity SPH Media Trust last December.
  
  In his e-mail, Mr Ng thanked SPH chairman Lee Boon Yang and the directors for their guidance and support over the years. Mr Ng has been CEO of SPH since September 2017.
  
  He also welcomed Mr Lim and the new board members of SPH to guide the company forward, and said he was pleased to be succeeded by Mr Yong.
  
  "Gerald has a stellar record and is well qualified to lead SPH Limited in the next lap," he said.

  Earlier this month, SPH Media Trust also announced that tech and talent are the two main areas that SPH Media Trust will be heavily focusing on to deliver quality, credible journalism. On the commercial revenue front, SPH Media Trust will still place significance on ads and subscriptions, chairman Khaw said. The changes come as SPH Media Trust looks to become more customer-focused, data-driven and collaborative, in line with its transformation.
  
  Last September, Khaw said SPH Media Trust also wants to speed up BT's digital transformation and expand ST's resources in the newsroom, while at the same time doubling down on digital customer interface and customer experience to produce more engaging content for its digital audience.
  
  In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, media veterans in Singapore lauded SPH Media Trust’s appointment of Teo sharing that the language SPH is now taking about “customer focus” and “data-driven” indicates a shift in its core.
