This document provides information on the derivation and history of street names in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is presented in two parts. Part 1 contains notes from Charles B. Boog Watson, a historian who researched Edinburgh street names. Part 2 contains additional notes on streets named between 1820 and 1975, researched under the direction of the City Engineer. Both parts cite sources used to establish the meanings and origins of the street names.
