Some likeminded men and women started meeting on a regular basis with the idea of offering the people of Swansea and elsewhere a trip through ‘Copperopolis’ telling of it’s hayday and when Swansea produced all of the worlds refined Copper production. Feeling that this part of Swansea’ history was much forgotten and neglected, they began the idea of running a boat up the river Tawe, passing a few of the sites that are still visible.

After a few years of hard graft and lots of fundraising the trust had found the perfect boat for our operations. The Black Prince arrived on a frosty morning in December 2010 and was ready for trips in 2011. The Black Prince was operating until 2013, until we sold the boat to a company in Wigan for use on the Pier.

The Copper Jack is the second boat (and our current vessel), owned and operated by the Swansea Community Boat Trust. It came to Swansea in May 2014 after 14 months of building. This Purpose built boat was tailored to our specific needs, most importantly our disabled lift and disabled toilet.
