Payments
When submitting a card payment, an additional service fee of 2.66% will be collected by a third party (Wells Fargo Merchant Services) to cover transactions processing fees. To avoid this fee, payments can be paid online via ACH/echeck, or paid in person with cash or check or by mailing a check.
Note: The City is not able to accept in-person payments when City Hall is closed to the public.

San José Municipal Water System and Recycling & Garbage for residential properties with communal service
- To pay your bill online, or sign up for automatic or recurring payments, use E-Bill Express. By following this link, you will leave the City of San José website. Have your account number and amount ready.
- To pay your bill by phone 24 hours a day, call 866-551-5253.
- Paperless billing option is not available at this time.
Recycling & Garbage - Single-Family Residential Customers
- The City of San José has changed the billing method for single-family residential garbage services. Charges are now placed on the Santa Clara County Secured Property Tax bill. The billing cycle covered will be the same as the property tax bill: July 1 - June 30.
San José Clean Energy
- Your San José Clean Energy bill is included as a charge on your monthly PG&E bill. Payments are accepted through thePG&E website or by calling 800-743-5000.

- If you have closed your PG&E account and still owe a balance to SJCE, there are two options for providing payment:
- Pay online using our online payment portal (Note: this is only for closed accounts and cannot be used for regular bill payments). You can obtain access to our payment portal by referencing your Final Delinquency Notice or contacting our customer service line at 833-432-2454.
- Write a check payable to City of San José and mail it to San José Clean Energy, 200 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA 95113.
