Mission Statement
“It is the mission of the San Antonio International Airport Police Department to enhance the safety of that community of citizens who travel through the airport by a commitment to excellence in the professional and courteous delivery of police and security services, while operating under the framework of the United States Constitution, through the reduction of fear and the preservation of human life while enforcing relevant statutes and regulations.”
Organization
In this new era of world terrorism, the Airport Police must remain vigilant and be an ever present deterrent to terrorism.
An Airport Police Officer is a duly authorized Peace Officer for the City of San Antonio and the State of Texas. The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is the primary airport serving the San Antonio metropolitan area and the 7th largest city in the United States of America. More than 10 million travelers flew in and out of historic San Antonio in 2018 including Mexico on 11 airlines. Thereby, an integral part of police work for any law enforcement agency involves good customer service skills and an Airport Police Officer will experience many public contacts on a daily basis.
The San Antonio Airport Police came under the control and management of Chief William P. McManus, San Antonio Police Department in 2009.
San Antonio Police Captain Adolfo Zuniga is the current Airport Police Commander managing the Airport Police.
