A 33-year-old Co Monaghan man has been sent to prison for three and a half years after being convicted of membership of an illegal organisation.

The Special Criminal Court was told that Seamus Daly, who is single and unemployed, was affiliated to the Real IRA which carried out the Omagh bombing.

Mr Justice Paul Butler took into account the fact that he pleaded guilty and that he had no previous convictions.

Daly is one of five people, including Michael McKevitt and Liam Campbell, who are being sued by the relatives of the victims of the Omagh bombing.
