Custom Message Parser

A common problem in syslog environments is that many devices issue invalidly formed messages. As a consequence, they can not be correctly parsed and processing them in a meaningful way becomes very complex or undoable. In rsyslog, custommessage parsers can be used to solve this problem. They permit parsing based on the device’s message format.

Message parsers are loadable modules written in C. If you provide us with some samples of the raw message for your device, we can write a custom parser for you.
