NB: this cup started as a trophy from the then governor of Nyasaland, Sir Robert Armitage, in 1957 to the Nyasaland African Football Association (NAFA) and probably was named after him. In 1964 the throphy was called Kamuzu Cup in honour of 'Founder of the Nation' Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda. It was first played as an interprovincial (sind 1963 interregional) tournament amongst the Southern, Central and Northern Provinces (c.q. Regions) in a round robin (mini-league) system. In 1957 it was held in Lilongwe and in 1958 in Mzuzu, both times in the Christmas period. In 1962, the cup (knock-out) system was introduced and the Southern Province (later Region) was allowed to enter two sides, a southern and a northern section (also called A and B). Since 1974 the cup is played by club teams.Year Winners Runners-up1957 Southern Province Central Province1958 Northern Province 1959-61 not played1962 Southern Province A 3-2 Central Province1963 Northern Region 2-1 Southern Region North1964 Southern Region South 3-1 Southern Region North1965 Central Region1966 Central Region 2-1 Southern Region North1967 Central Region 2-1 Southern Region B1968 Northern Region 3-0 Southern Region South 1969-70 not known1971 Southern Region A1972 Southern Region A1973 not known1974 Bata Bullets (Blantyre) 4-2 Karu United 1975 Bata Bullets 3-2 Michiru Castles [Jun 23]1976 Yamaha Wanderers 4-0 Hardware Stars1977 Sucoma (Chikwawa) 1-0 Police1978 Hardware Stars (Blantyre) 4-0 Rico Strikers (Salima)1979 Bata Bullets 4-0 MDC United1980 Bata Bullets 1-0 Hardware Stars1981 Bata Bullets 1-0 Civo United1982 Limbe Leaf Wanderers 2-0 Sucoma1983 Bata Bullets 2-0 Sucoma1984 Berec Power Pack 3-2 Civo United [aet]1985 Limbe Leaf Wanderers 1-1 2-0 Silver Strikers1986 Bata Bullets 2-0 Red Lions (Zomba) 1987 Silver Strikers (Lilongwe) 2-1 MDC United 1988 Admarc Tigers (Blantyre) 3-2 Silver Strikers1989 MITCO (Lilongwe) 1-1 2-1 Bata Bullets1990 Admarc Tigers 1-0 Silver Strikers (Lilongwe)1991 Silver Strikers 1-0 Civo United1992 Bata Bullets 2-0 Limbe Leaf Wanderers 1993 Sucoma 3-1 Bata Bullets1994 Silver Strikers 1995 Silver Strikers 1996 Uniprint Stars 2-1 Limbe Leaf Wanderers1997 Telecom Wanderers 2-1 ACT Stars1998 apparently not held1999 final not played (MDC United (Lilongwe) vs Super ESCOM (Blantyre))NB: Michiru Castles were temporarily known as Hardware Stars and Uniprint Stars; MDC United were earlier known as Berec Power PackNB: resurrected as district tournament in 2005/062006 Kasungu Police 2-0 Santhe
