Hungary - List of Champions

No teams from outside Budapest played in the league until 1926.Starting with the 1907/08 season, regional championships wereorganised, whose winners played off for the "Vidéki Bajnokság",the "provincial championship". The winners of that playoffwere entitled to challenge the Budapest league champions forthe Hungarian championship; however, such a match was to beplayed in Budapest, which was a financial burden on the provincialclubs; so only one such playoff took place before the First WorldWar (in 1909), and the result was unequivocal. In 1924/25, atournament involving the top-2 of the Budapest league and the6 regional champions was played for the Hungarin championship;in 1925/26, the Budapest runners-up did not enter. In allseasons in which an all-Hungarian final was played, it waswon by the winners of the Budapest league.
