Aquí todo se apoya en la atmósfera de un pequeño pueblo donde los secretos pesan más que el aire que se respira, y en la figura central de Mare Sheehan. Kate Winslet está sencillamente impresionante: natural, sin adornos, dando vida a una mujer marcada por las pérdidas, la rutina y una comunidad que no la deja respirar.El guion no inventa nada radicalmente nuevo dentro del género, pero sabe aprovechar cada giro y cada revelación para que el suspense se mezcle con el retrato íntimo de sus personajes. Lo que podría haber sido un thriller más se convierte en un estudio humano que emociona tanto como intriga. La dirección maneja muy bien los tiempos, sin miedo a la pausa, y consigue que cada detalle del entorno nos acerque más a esa sensación de estar dentro del pueblo.Lo mejor es cómo combina lo policial con lo personal. Los casos que investiga Mare no son solo enigmas a resolver, sino espejos de las vidas rotas que la rodean, y en muchos momentos la investigación es solo la excusa para mostrarnos a personas vulnerables que intentan seguir adelante. Winslet se apoya en un elenco coral muy sólido, pero es ella quien hace que cada escena tenga peso.Mare of Easttown no busca deslumbrar con artificios, sino contar una historia honesta, dura y profundamente humana.
