"Rosaline" is a fresh and comedic twist on Shakespeare's classic love story "Romeo & Juliet," told from the perspective of Juliet's cousin Rosaline (Kaitlyn Dever), who also happens to be Romeo's recent love interest. Heartbroken when Romeo (Kyle Allen) meets Juliet (Isabela Merced) and begins to pursue her, Rosaline schemes to foil the famous romance and win back her guy.

The anachronistic, snarky dialogue misses as often as it hits. Romeo (Allen) emerges as a cad; Juliet is reduced to a twit.

I love Shakespeare and had high hopes from this movie.It's not just the anachronisms that made me hate this movie, it's the lack of...everything. Few minutes in and I found myself wanting to do something else I didn't the feel the chemistry between the main characters and the storyline is generic and was done better in other movies.

The Romeo and Juliet story from Rosaline's perspective is an interesting one. Rosaline is a campy film with ample cheese but a decent time.
