But when Mani Ratnam’s Guru came to Colombo, I went to watch it at a cinema, because I had read on the internet that Guru was such an entertaining and inspiring movie. Besides, I am a big fan of the director Mani Ratnam.I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the movie from the beginning to the end. The romance between Guru and Sujatha was very creatively crafted. The songs were beautiful, especially the song "Barso Re" and its amazing dance by beautiful Aishwarya. Abhishek Bhachchan had done justice to his character. This was the best Abhishek movie I ever seen. Aishwarya Rai was as beautiful as ever and much better than in her previous movies. I thought she became famous for her sheer beauty, but it was in this movie that I saw her true talent as an actor. I think the credit should go to the director Mani Ratnam for getting the best out of both Abhishek and Aishwarya. In the meantime, the government officials are taken care of and continue with their debauchery and treachery. Governments need to understand they don't own us directly or indirectly. His performance is definitely the main reason to check this movie out. It spans many years and seeing him play this role is fascinating. I do feel that the movie has segments of time where it really slows down but for the most part, I was at least interested by the story.
