Abstract

DNS-SD (DNS-based Service Discovery) normally discloses informationabout devices offering and requesting services. This informationincludes hostnames, network parameters, and possibly a furtherdescription of the corresponding service instance. Especially whenmobile devices engage in DNS-based Service Discovery at a publichotspot, serious privacy problems arise. We analyze the requirementsof a privacy-respecting discovery service.
