Abstract

This document defines Object Security for Constrained RESTfulEnvironments (OSCORE), a method for application-layer protection ofthe Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP), using CBOR ObjectSigning and Encryption (COSE). OSCORE provides end-to-end protectionbetween endpoints communicating using CoAP or CoAP-mappable HTTP.OSCORE is designed for constrained nodes and networks supporting arange of proxy operations, including translation between differenttransport protocols.

Although an optional functionality of CoAP, OSCORE alters CoAPoptions processing and IANA registration. Therefore, this documentupdates RFC 7252.
