Abstract

This specification defines a format for representing simple sensormeasurements and device parameters in Sensor Measurement Lists(SenML). Representations are defined in JavaScript Object Notation(JSON), Concise Binary Object Representation (CBOR), ExtensibleMarkup Language (XML), and Efficient XML Interchange (EXI), whichshare the common SenML data model. A simple sensor, such as atemperature sensor, could use one of these media types in protocolssuch as HTTP or the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) totransport the measurements of the sensor or to be configured.

For the definition ofStatus,seeRFC 2026.

For the definition ofStream, seeRFC 8729.
