Abstract

Transport Layer Security (TLS) handshakes often include fairly staticinformation, such as the server certificate and a list of trustedcertification authorities (CAs). This information can be ofconsiderable size, particularly if the server certificate is bundledwith a complete certificate chain (i.e., the certificates ofintermediate CAs up to the root CA).

This document defines an extension that allows a TLS client to informa server of cached information, thereby enabling the server to omitalready available information.

For the definition ofStatus,seeRFC 2026.

For the definition ofStream, seeRFC 8729.
