Abstract

This document describes an extension to the IS-IS routing protocol toadvertise node administrative tags. This optional capability allowstagging and grouping of the nodes in an IS-IS domain. The nodeadministrative tags can be used to express and apply locally definednetwork policies, thereby providing a very useful operationalcapability. Node administrative tags may be used by either IS-ISitself or other applications consuming information propagated viaIS-IS.
