Abstract
This document provides extensions to Generalized Multiprotocol LabelSwitching (GMPLS) signaling for control of Wavelength SwitchedOptical Networks (WSONs). Such extensions are applicable in WSONsunder a number of conditions including: (a) when optionalprocessing, such as regeneration, must be configured to occur atspecific nodes along a path, (b) where equipment must be configuredto accept an optical signal with specific attributes, or (c) whereequipment must be configured to output an optical signal withspecific attributes. This document provides mechanisms tosupport distributed wavelength assignment with a choice of distributedwavelength assignment algorithms.
