This document specifies a set of TCP extensions to improveperformance over paths with a large bandwidth * delay product and toprovide reliable operation over very high-speed paths. It definesthe TCP Window Scale (WS) option and the TCP Timestamps (TS) optionand their semantics. The Window Scale option is used to supportlarger receive windows, while the Timestamps option can be used forat least two distinct mechanisms, Protection Against WrappedSequences (PAWS) and Round-Trip Time Measurement (RTTM), that arealso described herein.
