This document updates RFC 4960 by defining a method for the sender ofa DATA chunk to indicate that the corresponding SelectiveAcknowledgment (SACK) chunk should be sent back immediately andshould not be delayed. It is done by specifying a bit in the DATAchunk header, called the (I)mmediate bit, which can get set by eitherthe Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) implementation or theapplication using an SCTP stack. Since unknown flags in chunkheaders are ignored by SCTP implementations, this extension does notintroduce any interoperability problems.
For the definition ofStatus,seeRFC 2026.
