Abstract

This document describes requirements for, and the use of, theGeneralized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) control plane insupport of the Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) layer 1 inversemultiplexing data plane mechanism and its companion Link CapacityAdjustment Scheme (LCAS). LCAS can be used for hitless dynamicresizing of the inverse multiplex group. These techniques apply toOptical Transport Network (OTN), Synchronous Optical Network(SONET), Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), and PlesiochronousDigital Hierarchy (PDH) signals. This document updates RFC 4606 bymaking modifications to the procedures for supporting virtualconcatenation. [STANDARDS-TRACK]
