Abstract

This document defines TCP's four intertwined congestion controlalgorithms: slow start, congestion avoidance, fast retransmit, andfast recovery. In addition, the document specifies how TCP shouldbegin transmission after a relatively long idle period, as well asdiscussing various acknowledgment generation methods. This documentobsoletes RFC 2581. [STANDARDS-TRACK]
