Abstract

This document defines a set of requirements for NATs handling theDatagram Congestion Control Protocol (DCCP). These requirementsallow DCCP applications, such as streaming applications, to operateconsistently, and they are very similar to the TCP requirements forNATs, which have already been published by the IETF. Ensuring thatNATs meet this set of requirements will greatly increase thelikelihood that applications using DCCP will function properly. This document specifies an Internet Best Current Practices for theInternet Community, and requests discussion and suggestions forimprovements.

For the definition ofStatus,seeRFC 2026.

For the definition ofStream, seeRFC 8729.
